The origin of this ancient grape variety, also known as Piquepoul Blanc and Picpoul de Pinet, dates back to Languedoc and later, due to the phylloxera crisis, the grape lost interest in the eyes of winemakers also due to its limited production and sensitivity to fungal diseases. This variety, now re-evaluated mostly in blends with other grapes, has a very small distribution even in the Southern Rhône, where it is allowed in the production of the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The pure version offered by this winery in Auvergne, made through a very short skin maceration, is therefore absolutely rare and intriguing.

Domaine de la Bohème Picapol Blanc is a 100% Picpoul Blanc grown according to the principles of organic farming on volcanic soils.
