The Barolo ‘Bussia’ from the iconic Langhe estate Giuseppe Rinaldi is a Barolo of extraordinary elegance and depth that ranks among the highest quality not only in the area but also in the entire global wine scene. This label is the latest addition to the Rinaldi family, first presented with the 2019 vintage and quickly established itself as one of the standout crus of the winery. Currently led by sisters Marta and Carlotta Rinaldi, the estate has contributed over the years to writing the history of great traditionalist Barolos, celebrated by critics and sought after by collectors worldwide.
The ‘Bussia’ Barolo Giuseppe Rinaldi is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown within the prestigious Geographical Indication of Bussia, particularly in the subzone of Bussia Sottana, in Monforte d’Alba. Here, the vines benefit from an altitude of 230 meters above sea level and the soil composition, made up of fossil Sant’Agata marls. Following the harvest, which is carried out strictly by hand with a careful selection of the bunches, the grapes are vinified according to a traditional approach that involves spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in conical wooden vats, long maceration of 20-30 days on the skins, and prolonged aging in large Slavonian oak barrels.
In the glass, the Barolo ‘Bussia’ by Giuseppe Rinaldi reveals a bright ruby red cloak tending towards garnet. The wide and refined olfactory context is a symphony of aromas ranging from hints of red fruits, orange peel, flowers, medicinal herbs, tobacco, spices, and mineral notes. The sip is intense and appetizing, complex and deep, with a prominent fresh-salty verve and an elegant tannic structure that heralds a very long persistence on the finish. A Barolo of great longevity and noble character that cannot be missing in the finest wine collections.
