Schiavenza's Barolo "Broglio" Riserva is a bottle with a secure future. In fact, it comes from an indigenous Piedmont grape particularly predisposed to evolution over time, Nebbiolo, and is guaranteed to age in glass for the next 15 years as well, thus representing a forward-looking purchase for those who want to try their hand at great Italian red wines for ageing. A label in which the tertiary aromas announce themselves as important, assisted by a thick tannic texture that elevates the tenor of the sip. Perfect with great main courses of red meat or game.
This Barolo Riserva "Broglio" comes from the pure use of Nebbiolo grapes, a benchmark varietal for the production of established Piedmontese reds. The vines of this variety grow with the guyot system in vineyards located near Serralunga d'Alba, in the "Broglio" subzone, and take root in clay, loamy and calcareous soil. The berries, harvested in mid to late October, fermented in steel and then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 36 months. At the end of this ageing period, the wine is ready to be bottled and marketed by Schiavenza.
Piedmont red wine Barolo Riserva "Broglio" presents itself to the eye with a typically garnet colour, with some slight reflections tending more toward orange on the rim. The scents that make up the olfactory profile revolve around floral notes of dried rose, enhanced by more spicy touches resulting from the ageing of wood. In the mouth, it is full-bodied and tannic, with a powerful and energetic bite that envelops the drink with elegance and refinement. A great label, with which the Schiavenza winery comes close to top marks in the major Italian and international wine guides.
