Merlot Riserva 'Gant' Cantina Andriano 2015

The red Merlot Reserve “Gant” is a product that defies the passage of time and can be “forgotten” in the cellar for the next 6-7 years. A bottle that warms the palate, powerful and with great completeness of flavor, and with an olfactory spectrum excellently developed. Cantina Andriano produces a truly interesting label, which, moreover, considering its potential longevity, represents a great investment for future tastings.

This Reserve “Gant” Merlot is made from pure grapes of the eponymous international red grape variety, cultivated by the Cantina Andriano team in Terlano, within vineyards characterized by a sandy and clayey subsoil, located about 250-300 meters above sea level. During the harvest, the selection of the bunches is meticulous, and they are then taken to the facilities designated for winemaking, where they are destemmed. The grapes, after pressing, give rise to a must that ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, while malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques. The aging then follows, first carried out for 12 months in barrique and then, after bottling, for another 12 months in the bottle.

The Merlot Reserve “Gant” presents itself to the visual examination with a ruby red color, crossed by reflections that tend more towards garnet at the rim. Berries alternate on the nose with more woody and toasted aromas, from which mineral sensations also emerge. On the palate, it has an excellent structure, warm and embracing thanks to the good alcohol content, round and full, with a sip characterized by a savory texture. A red with which Cantina Andriano manages to assert itself not only to the main national industry critics but also attracts the positive opinion of an important figure like Robert Parker.
